I was just curious as to whether anyone has used any programs that pay you to surf the internet. Are they real? Are they a pain in the butt? How do they work, and what kind of stuff do they put on your pc?

I haven't used any, but from what I've been able to find out over the past 2 or 3 years, most are not that great. In general most do actually pay, but they are not what they are cracked up to be in general.

Basically they work by adding a usually small program to your PC that tracks your visits to certain sites, and they pay you a certain amount for each visit to those sites. It's not much, you'd have to live on the internet to actually make a living at it. I don't know if they can or do track every site you visit, you'd have to closely read their user agreement to get an idea just how much of your internet usage they track.

I would think if I were going to consider anything of this nature I would want to print out and read the user agreement very thoroughly before committing myself to anything.

Again I'm not positive, but I would think the type of sites they are priented toward would be commercial sites, and the idea would be to get you to buy something just about everywhere you looked...That's about the only way I can think of they could actually undertake a venture of this sort as a business and survive financially.

The best advice I can offer is if you are considering it, be sure you check it out very thoroughly before making any agreements of any type. Check with the Better Business Bureau, and maybe your state's Attorney General's office would have some information. Get specific company names and contact information and find out everything you can about it before jumping in. try to contact other people who have first hand knowledge of the particular business and see what they say. Don't depend on their website's "Here's What Our Users Say" propaganda, it's just that...propaganda.
