Help! How do I get my computer to recognise the CD drive?

I've just reformatted my old laptop and reinstalled Windows 98 by booting from floppy disk. During the installation process, the CD drive worked fine, but now Windows won't recognise it (and so I can't install the other drivers off the CD etc). The only time the CD drive is recognised is when I boot from the floppy disk. How can I install drivers to make it work in Windows?

Hi,
try the following
copy the cdrom drivers (like MSCDEX.exe and SSCDROM.sys )to a directory
in c:
in autoexec.bat add the following
c:\cdrom\mscdex

in config.sys add
device=c:\cdrom\sscdrom.sys /d:sscd000 /v

reboot the system.(as usual)
