Hi mjc,
The firmware and driver updates are for DVD Drive.
There is no problems with the device at the moment, So is it necessary to upgrade. I read that they have to be installed under ms dos which I haven't done before. OS Windows ME.

Normally a firmware upgrade for a DVD is only necessary if a person has "regional" problems. As in regions off the World. Region 1, 2, etc. pertaining to the DVD disk itself.
