How what I go about determining what something is? Specifically, I have a TV capture and TV tuner card that I have no idea who made. I even took it out and looked at it, but that was not very helpful either. The only thing I could find was a part number. Is there some way to search for that?

You should be able to get some information through
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Info, your version of Windows may be somewhat different

You can try the part number in Google (http://www.google.com)...I've had some luck with that...

Yea, try a search for the part number on google... You may need to open up the case and have alook at your TV card. Look for any serial numbers or model numbers.

You can look in the Device Manager as well it should at least give you the Brand name...
On the card itself there should be a set of numbers that can be used here (http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
And lastly, Start/Run type hwinfo /ui (yes there is a space after the o in hwinfo ) and hit enter...warning this is a large list of drivers and equipment.

You might be able to find the FCC (http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/) ID number on it.
Grabbing the info from device manager assumes that the proper drivers are installed in the first place or that the device properly ids itself...but it can offer a starting point.
