View Full Version : Upgrading alienware aurora

Hello everyone i have an alienware aurora that im looking to upgrade but im not sure what i should focus on...i know ill be buying a new gpu first but im not sure if my 525 watt psu will be enought to handle a gtx 570-580..Heres specs.

Proc: I5 2300 oc to 3.3
Gpu: 2 gts450s in sli
4gb ddr3 ram
Psu 525 watt
1tb harddrive
Not sure of my motherboard atm

So if i buy a gtx570 or 580 what shuld i plan to upgrade next to increase performance..

Oh and this rig is used for gaming btw

For shame... an expensive system like the Aurora and they throw in a 525W PSU?! Get at least 700W

Yea the 525 psu was real dissapointing.. Do you think it could handle a card like the gtx 570 until i order a psu? Also what brand of psu would you recomend? Ive never installed one and im not sure of combatibilty issues also

Nost power supplies are compatable these days..........and 525 would probally work if it has the plugs for the card.....just a little weak

Two GTS 450s come in at 212W TDP. A single GTX 570 comes in at 219W TDP. Since the PSU likely is not old enough to sustain any significant deterioration, I would say you can risk the upgrade.

But yeah, seriously, a 525W PSU for an SLI system?? Stupid Alienware...
