View Full Version : PC cleaning
I am new at this and I just wanted to make sure of something before I do it. My frind needs me to clean two of his PCs at his radio station because they are locking up on him......From what I can tell all I need to do is run SCANDISK and then Defrag it. That will help but should I do anything else to them. I am going to go into MSCONFIG and get rid of some of the junk on his start up to to help speed him up. If anyone can suggest anything else it would be great. Thank you. Ken B.

It sounds like a good start. You might check the inside of the cases for dust build up and find out what programs are running when the comps freeze.

Welcome Ken
Delete all the cookies you can. (Windoz/Cookies)
Sort thru the Temporary file folder and trash what you can live without. As well as the Temporary Internet file.
Go to Add/Remove Programs see what you can get rid of that isn't needed.
Use the un-install option on a program if possible. If the Add/Remove option is used it's best to retain shared files if asked to do so.
Check in Device Manager and make sure there isn't any conflicts.
Go to systems tools/backup and do a complete backup.
Luck.
