I need to run a Unix type environment on my pc.
At present I am running Windows 98.

So far I have tried with X-windows emulators as I was told this is a very easy approach because it runs on top of windows.

I have tried over 4 X-windows emulator software’s and have not had any luck.

I will now try other options open to me.

1st option:
I have two hard disks.
I am aware that it is possible to run dual operating systems.
So that my Windows will remain on C drive
and my Unix/Linux/Redhat or other Unix flavor operating system will be on my second drive d.

Could any one tell me what is the best shareware/freeware Unix OS to use?
Note I would prefer the least complications.

2nd Option:
To have one operating system i.e. one of the Unix flavors.

I chose Redhat 7.2 for an alternate OS (but that's as far as I've gotten; too many other projects http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif ).

For something closer to real Unix, I'd go with freeBSD (http://www.freebsd.org/).
