Hi,
I have ASUS Motherboard A7A266 at BIOS 1004, In Advanced settings 'CPU Level 2 ECC Check' my BIOS is set to 'ENABLED' but manual indicates setting should be disabled, can anyone suggest which is correct please?
ASUS do not want to answer my question! Am not keen on 'trial & Error!'
Config: AMD 1.4, 512 DDR, Win 98SE, Epson printer and scanner usb, Wacom, thrustmaster - usb, DVD/CD ROM & Plex RW.
Regards, TonyPi

ECC modules have an extra chip that detects if the data was correctly read or written by the memorymodule.
If the data wasn't properly written, the extra chip will correct it in many cases (depending on what type of error).
Non-ECC (also called non-parity) modules do not have this error-detecting feature.

To answer your question
IF you have ECC memory installed?
Then Yes it should be enabled in the Bios
If you do Not have ECC memory installed then is should be disabled

Thanks Rick,
have reset offending Bios setting, only time will tell if this cures my overall problem associated with printer use and Shut-down BSOD.
