Upon booting up I have gotten a "exception notice" which comes on after the Windows ME screen. It says "An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C00598E1 in VxD VNETBIOS (01) + 00000B8D. This was called from 0028.C024C58B in VxD(0C) + 0000058B. It may be possible to continue normally"

I am able to press a key and continue booting up.

How can I correct this...do I need to correct this? Thanks,

JC

Here's some information on Vnetbios.vxd which is what's causing your error.

Windows 98 architecture for Microsoft networking
Client for Microsoft Networks supports connectivity over any NDIS protocol that supports a NetBIOS interface and is accessible through Vnetbios.vxd. The protected-mode protocols provided with Windows 98 that support a NetBIOS interface are the following:
·NetBEUI using Netbeui.vxd
·NetBIOS over TCP/IP using Vnbt.vxd and the TCP/IP components Vtcp.vxd and Vip.vxd
·NetBIOS over IPX/SPX using Nwnblink.vxd and Nwlink.vxd
Client for Microsoft Networks also supports connectivity over IPX/SPX using Nwlink.vxd without the NetBIOS interface.

I would remove Netbios/Netbeui support from your protocal stack, if you don't need it.

To do this open the network icon in control panel. click "protocals" and remove the Netbeui protocal( if installed). Then highlight "TCP/IP"(if installed)and click "properties". Now click "advance", then "wins" and select "diable Netbios over TCP/IP". ( To restore any of these options simply reverse the instructions. For example instead of Clicking "remove" click "add" then "protocals" and choose Netbeui to restore Netbeui support to your computer.)

Another option would be to remove Client for microsoft networks, reboot and then readd it agian. WARNING do this only if you know how to setup your network connectivty and know what protocals to use. IF YOUR NOT SURE THEN LEAVE IT ALONE.

for more information do a search at the micorsoft web site for Vnetbios.vxd

Also be certain to have the ME cd.( ME should install all the cab file for drivers to your HD. But I never trust a Microsoft product to do what it's supposed to do.)

Hope this helps
