View Full Version : Computer turns itself off and reboots
My computer (200mmx) with Windows 95 has been running for ages with no problems. It now turns itself off and reboots intermittently. Nothing is touched when it happens.
Thanks

Most likely problem is heat. Open the case and clean out all dust, especially around the air slots in the power supply, and fan blades. A can of compressed air works well, I use a small camera or make up brush on the fan blades. Clean dust off the heatsinks too, and everywhere in the case you can get to.
If that doesn't work, I would suspect the power supply.

I have cleaned out the inside of the computer and I also took the top off the power supply and cleaned out the inside and found huge amounts of dust on the board and around the fan. The computer has been on for many hours so far and no problems at all!
Many thanks.

Great!
Do that about twice a year and you shouldn't have any heat problems in the future, and will probably help the machine last longer too.
