I have a PC with a 20gig HD partitioned into 2 parts equaling 10 each. Both set to Fat 32. I want to install NT on the D:\ (second partition), i know I have to covert it to Fat or NTFS. If I do this can I install NT and make it dual boot, or do I have to make the c:\ FAT as well so I can place the boot sector in that dir. Please advise as I dont want to format my whole drive if poss.
Thanks

First load win98 on your harddrive. After that load 2000. Then you will have a choice every time you boot up. One choice to 98 or 2000.

If you are installing original NT ( not 2000 ) it doesn't support FAT32; so it'll give you an error upon trying to install from either w98 or from a Boot that it doesn't support this partition.
You'll have to create a small FAT16 partition ( around 100 MB's is more than enough ) then install W98 in D, then install NT in E-C will be your MSDOS partition.
There is not support in OEM NT for FAT32, nor does MS plan on backporting it since W2K and XP{ both support it )and they wish for industries to migrate to one of them.
