Here is my problem! I had a PII 233mhz processor with an atx mainboard.
I bought a Duron 700Mhz processor and a Epox main board.
The computer works fine, but the problem is when i turn it on.
in the morning if I turn it on it won't display anything on the screen but it boots. If i press RESET, it beeps three times but it still doesen't display anything.
if i turn it off and then turn it back on it works fine for the rest of the day, even if i turn it off and then back on.
What should I do? I did'n put any izolatores between the case and the mainboard.
The problem is with the video card? I have a 8MB Vanta!
help me!

I would make sure the card is seated correctly in it's slot.
The beeps are just telling you that the video driver didn't initialize during the post. If you have another video card you might want to put it in. If it works you may have a bad video card. I have also heard Pete and others suggest cleaning the contacts of your card by using an eraser. (just be careful not to touch the contacts with your fingers) That might work since your video does "turn on" after a few tries.

Another cause might be that some other driver is using the range of memory that is assigned to the video card. But I don't really think that's the problem and in anycase would have no idea how to fix that on your computer.

Hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Beep code interpretations depend on which BIOS you have.

AMI-3 beeps (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/ami.htm) Means a memory problem, possibly a motherboard issue as well.

Award uses one long, 2 short for 3 beeps, which would be video error.

Phoenix uses sets of three beep sequences.
