i have windows 2000 as my operating system.my cd rom is automatically closing and opening .how can i solve this problem.the moment i start the p.c.the cd rom drive keeps on opening and closing automatically.
how to solve this problem.

It might be time for a repair or replacement and with the price of a repair being probably as much as a new one it might be best to get a new one.

About the only things I can think of trying is going into Device Manager and remove the drive and then reboot. Check or uncheck autoplay under properties. Check that the eject button isn't half jammed or dirty with grit.

have you run a virus scan recently. i recomend this because my friend had a virus before that did this type of thing.
