View Full Version : fitting bios on floppy, how

hi all, I want to flash my bios, for the first time, I think I know how to do it, I have an-elite K7VTA3 mthbrd, athlon tbrd 1.33, 512ddr ram, the problem is after I make the start up floppy,win98se, there is only 53kb left on the floppy and the bios stuff is 217kb thats without the flash installer, it just wont fit on, am I doing something wrong, I followed the elite website stuff to the letter, please help. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

thanks for reply, I have followed the advice on the site, however I have a problem, it says to delete, fdisk, format, and msdex from the floppy to free up space, I can only find fdisc on my floppy, deleted it, but the other 2 are'nt there, could they be under another name for win98se, more help appreciated.

There is no reason to modify your startup floppy; once you've loaded DOS into high memory, there is no need for the startup disk at that point.

You can add the BIOS ROM and flash program to another empty floppy, then insert it while in DOS and execute the program.

An even simpler way is to create a folder on your C: drive called { C:newbios for example} and put your flash program and the BIOS update file there , then just navigate to them in DOS after you've booted with your floppy. This is how i usually do it, saves a lot of headaches.
