What's a good utility/program for blocking those *&^*^$&%$_####!!! multiple browser windows which open up when visting some sites? I've tried "Popup Killer", but it doesn't seem to be too effective.
Thanks

Hi Dan,
Here's a site that seems interesting. LINK (http://www.cexx.org/diepop.htm)
In the upper left of the opening page, they have links to three free programs you can get. I haven't tried any of these, but if YOU do, let us know if they're any good.
Here's another one I've come across.THE OTHER ONE (http://www.meaya.com/?dw)
Good luck. Hope it helps. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

There are some pop-up utilities that are spyware, so beware!
Pop-Up Stopper (http://www.panicware.com/product_dpps.html) is referenced at the Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) website as being a free utility for stopping this annoyance.
BTW - Opera (http://www.opera.com) has, in it's preferences, an option to stop pop-ups. Not quite what you're looking for, I think, but an option that might be interesting if you're not familiar with it already.

I've found the only sure way to stop popup banners while surfing the web is >go to the advanced properties of your broswer and disable java script< the only time i've found this to be a problem is that some web sites will not work[ when you click something, nothing happens]. Hope this helps try it, if you don't like the results you can always enable java script and try one of the above listed programs.

Have to agree with pentachris on Opera; i use it instead of IE or Netscape 'cause IMHO it's the Best browser ever-and it works just dandy in Linux also! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I've tried severtal different POPUp killer type programs; including my own i programmed, never been really satisfied with any of their performance yet. So i finally just went Opera (http://www.opera.com) and i haven't looked back!
MS could learn a thing or two from their progammers.

Thanks,

If you want a java-enabled browser (you almost certainly do), download with Java - about 10 MB altogether if I remember right.
Be sure to check out mouse gestures & integrated google searches from the address bar.

I've been using adsubtract se for cookies, which it blocks but didn't have the popup feature. Got a copy of AdSubtract Pro 2.42 (latest is 2.45) & it seems to work great on the popups as well. Thanks to all who replied.

I use Pop-Up Stopper and find that it is very affective. Also use Zero-click to stop the "Double Click" cookie as well. It has the facillity to let you add more of the same to the banned items.
