Hi. My new computer with Windows 98 will not read the floppies I made with my old computer with WIN 95. The problem is most floppies were compressed with DRIVESPACE, and although the option was checked to mount the drive automatically, it doesn't seem to have worked.
Windows 98 will not read the floppy but give a READ FILE saying that the floppy must first be mounted with DRIVESPACE & Windows 95.
My old computer doesn't have a working floppy drive anymore. Both computers are on a home network (Lynksys). The floppy drive of the new computer is shared and I thought I could access it from the old computer through the network, but it gives the same Read file.
Is there a way to
- put a copy of DRIVESPACE on win 98 (although it says it needs win 95)?
- go around the problem using another program on win 98?
Or will I have to get a new floppy drive just to read those floppies?
Any help?
Thanks.
Fran.
