Why do images like http://www.btinternet.com/~kfhickmott/pubdirectory/lol.htm just show a red cross. I done all the usual, uploaded it to my web directory, right clicked/properties cut pasted the address. Which I've done many times before.
OS ME. IE6.

YODA- you can see how he did it by clicking EDIT on his post.

You of course will not be able to edit it, but you will see how he posted the image.. and everything else.

let me try it: http://www.btinternet.com/~kfhickmott/pubdirectory/lol.htm

http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

as for why it isn't showing up could be that your site does not allow hosting images off of their server.. is it a free deal??

edit again: I see it is a freebie- had you uploaded to your what they call "X-Drive", these images??

Hi Yoda, SEA,
I put all my images through this directory, haven't had a problem before.
The only thing I've done differently is I saved the image in ms word.
As web page complete. htm, html. Or web archive single file. mht. Or web page only. htm, html.
thanks,
kfh.

it may be you have exceeded you size limit on your account.

as I answered in YOUR OTHER THREAD on this same subject!
http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/001859.html

edit: however the above could not be true (upon further thought) because it wouldn't be able to be viewed at all, and I can click on it and see it but not post it as an image.

what is the file extension that you say it is being saved as again??

can you save it in a different format??

This double thread is confusing but I think that the link above points to a webpage http://www.btinternet.com/~kfhickmott/pubdirectory/lol_files/lol.htm since the file is .htm

and not to the pic file http://www.btinternet.com/~kfhickmott/pubdirectory/lol_files/image001.gif which is a .gif

and so should appear like this: http://www.btinternet.com/~kfhickmott/pubdirectory/lol_files/image001.gif in UBB

Follow-up. BTW the blue animated-gif smiley can be viewed by me using ME on both IE5.5sp2 and Opera. Of note is that when looking at the properties of the pic in the .htm link; IE still showed it as .htm but Opera correctly found the .gif location!

If it is displaying as a redX in my previous post in this thread then it is likely that there is something wrong with your browser settings, file associations or IE-encoding (or the .gif is not in your TIF-Folder).

Paul or someone else,
How can I display this http://www.btinternet.com/~kfhickmott/pubdirectory/Three.htm with more than one gif. Using the same method you showed me yesterday.
lol_files/imageoo1.gif.......

KFH, As Paul said before, you need to give the path to the .gif, not the page it shows on, on your site.
To do multipul images, just do multipul tags. (http:// [IMG"]http://[/IMG"] [IMG]http://[/IMG"])

Hi bassman,
I've tried that before but I'm limited to 8 images in a post.
I was hoping it would be possible to do it as a whole page,
may be it can't be done like that. If there was some way of saving the whole prodject as something different than .htm. Maybe that would work, but I dont know how.
thanks,
kfh.

Hey KFH,
You could save the images you want into one graphic file.
Example: image1.gif, image2.gif, image3.gif-copy and paste these into one file named images123.gif.
