Can you go into a little more detail for us? Copy down the entire message if possible.
How about some system specifications too!!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

hi.i have a packard bell club 78.amd k6.only had the bloody thing 20 months.the memory is fine,it all happened when i kept getting frozen keys(which is getting worse).i reinstalled everything, and thats when everything went wrong.there are file errors from the factory, and this writing device thing is usually on a cold boot.the frozen keys are worse..

Im still not sure of the situation...
Unless you can explain further (what do you mean by frozen keys?) then the best thing to do is reinstall once again!
You dont say if you clean reinstalled or installed over the top previously. The best thing to do is to reformat your entire drive, then reinstall your OS. reinstall each driver and software applictaion untill the problems arrise again (if at all!). If the problems do start up again, note down the last thing that you installed - that could be the poblem!
Of course it could be hardware related too... But I reckon a clean install sounds as though it should do the trick! Keep us posted!

hi.i did a clean reinstall and reformatted it before i reinstalled, but no luck.by frozen,i mean the system locks up and i have to boot it again.

Lockups like you describe can be a pain to track down, but often possible. The first things I ususally suspect are video drivers, directX and sound drivers. Memory might be suspect too.
Questions:
Does this happen with a fresh install, nothing but Windows? (In your case I would install Windows and run it for 2 or 3 days with only Windows installed to see if it does the same, or has other causes.)
Have you tried the latest drivers available for all your hardware? (video, sound, modem etc.)
In some cases, older drivers may work better as well...
What OS are you using?
AMD K6...what speed? The K6-2/350 had a timing loop issue with win95, could this be related? Dropping the CPU speed below 300MHz until the Windows install is fully completed might help. I did that with an AMD K6-2/450 that had been a problem for someone else. With the Windows 98 installation run at 300MHz it worked great, raised it back to 450MHz after the install and it's running perfect right now...I'm typing on it.
I can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'm sure I left out a few possibilities...Post some more detailed system info, the OS you're using, and maybe we can come up with more ideas.
