few days back RAM module in my motherboard got burned due to some mysterious reasons. My engineered put the RAM module into the second free slot. The comptuer worked for few days after which it started giving me all sorts of memory error. Does someone know any DOS utility to check if my motherboard is alright. Or how on earth do I know its the problem of motherboard. Waiting for any good answer. Thanks in advance.

I would try memory first, since it was a burned RAM module that apparently started it. If the RAM chip got "burned" as you say, it was probably a power related problem that was the original cause. This could be a spike or surge in the power lines, or lightning.
The motherboard could be bad too, but the only way I know of to really test it is to try another board.
The memory errors also point to memory. I would replace it.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?

Yeah, I had this a while back, started with the RAM, then other stuff starts to go haywire... by the time I swallowed my pride and took it to the shop, practically everything was fried. We're talking full rebuild. They traced the cause to a faulty PSU in the end, but finding that out wasn't much of a consolation. I'd recommend that you get each of your major components checked out, with a reliable utility or trusted Know-It-All, just in case.
But it's probably just the RAM. Do you have a surge protector?

Percussive maintenance, it may not work but it sure feels good...
