Restore a Windows Backup

I am also experiencing a problem when I attempt to "restore" a backup I did in Windows 98 to Windows 2000. The Windows 2000 won't recognize my backup.

My question is - if your machine crashes and your new machine won't accept the backups you did on the old machine...what's the use of backing up?

The Key is to restore into the same Operating system you did the backup in.
MS backup in my experience is only usable in one O/S at a time.

Cross Platform compatibility has always been a short coming of MS backup
For Data File backups it’s best to stay as far away from MS products as possible
