I re-formatted the C drive and wanted load windows 2000
but now the computer will not boot past the bios system
configuration screen and keeps indicating invalid system disk
no matter which boot disk I try.

When you formated the hard drive, you probably did not make the drive itself bootable. Depending on the age of the system, you may have the option to boot from the CDROM drive. This option will be found in the BIOS, typically under Advanced Options. choose to boot from the CDROM and ensure that the Win2K CDROM is in the drive during bootup. Hope this helps.

The computer I have is so old the CD-Rom option is not availible
in the BIOS Boot sequence. Is it possible to take the hard drive out
put it in a computer with the cd option, boot up load an OS, then put
the hard drive back in the old PC????
Is it possible to replace the BIOS????

Installing the OS then transferring the drive is not recommended, you'll have motherboard driver issues in most cases.

A BIOS flash might be available, you'll have to check the manufacturer's website for availability.

The win98 start up disk will solve the CD ROM problem for installation purposes. It loads generic CD ROM drivers, and once Windows in installed it should see and use the CD ROM. A win2000 start up disk should do the same, but I know little or nothing about win2000.

If the computer is old enough it doesn't have CD ROM boot capability it might not run win2000 at all...

Win2000 installation Guide (http://www.winmag.com/windows/guides/win2000/) at winmag.com might help, they have system requirements posted Here (http://www.winmag.com/win2000/gold/07.htm)
