Check out this link to a TechTV article on this subject, http://www.techtv.com/help/gettingstarted/story/0,23008,2458726,00.html.

Do it quite a lot; get yourself a cheap portable casstte player-a male to male jack ( one end for your line in on the sound card, one end for your cassette player headphone jack ) and a copy of MusicMatch jukebox.
You're all set-just play around with MM's settings for the quality of recording ( i've found 192kb to be the best ) and let er rip!!

AS mentioned in the aricle above-but you don't need any other burner software-MM will rip it straight to the cdr for you, converting it to .wav on the fly.

iisbob,
When I downloaded the freebie version recently I could not find anything about line in except a description of such in the upgrade to MM Plus version. If I missed it oh well my loss but I can't verify because I'm using the plus version now that was a real hassle at first. They still spent too much time and energy around what your jukebox looks like (they call it skins) and the program is slow to load and has no pause on the recorder, the storage arrangement is strange etc. Burning on a 1:1 ratio is OK sometimes but I wanted a little more control than that and am not really sorry I got the plus, just how I had to deal with them who had my card # in their hands that seemed to burn a hole in theirs. When I want product A, I don't want the combo pack of products A+B. They just couldn't see it that way.
I hope anyone that buys from them has better luck than me.

Sory to hear about your experiance with MM ( in this thread and another one ) Ted, possibly you got a corrupted download when you originally tried the free one; or if you were using your onboard integrated sound it may have been half-duplex and not allowed you to use the line-in while playing.
I too ( as i've stated elsewhere ) have the + version, and i also have EasyCD 5+ platnium ( haven't fooled around with it's sound programs however ), i had a soundblaster 16 pci when i first used MM { version 4.0 something } and it worked perfectly w/line-in, even though the free one only allows you to encode at 96 Kb's.
As with any product, sometimes you just get ahold of a monday/friday made product and it's crap. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
