I`m trying to set up a Duron 1GHz On an Epox 8K7A M/Bd with 256k PC2100 ram
There are 2 options for the "CPU clock select" on the board.
a) cpu 100MHz / DDR 200 MHz
b) cpu 133 MHz / DDR 266 MHz
Which setting should I use?
If the cpu speeds above are the same as the Duron fsb (200 MHz) do I need to adjust any other settings ( CPU ratio select?)to maximise the bus from 133 to 200?
There is also a settting for "CPU VCore adjust" But no voltage is specified (Default is +0V) Does anyone know the correct setting??
Thanx

RodgerDodger,welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
you might want to check out this artical on this Board and look at the Bench marks if you don't have the manual for that board which from what i gather is pretty usless anyway this is a good artical to check out.Until someone that is familiar with this board comes along.

Roger;
I just recently built a computer with a duron 9-mhz processor on a dfi am33-el mobo. I set mine for 100mhz, although i believe i could have set it for 133. I set it for 100 because I already had pc100 ram sticks and to the best of my knowledge 133 setting would have been wrong for those. I'm still pretty new to this too, so my info may be erroneous. however, I have set my bios (not much to do there, left most everything on default) and partitioned my hard drive only thing left for me to do is to format my hd and install o/s. Good luck and hope I have been helpfull.

Roger...
Here is a link to a review on the Duron 1Ghz CPU.
http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/reviews/amd_duron1ghz/index.shtml
Select: a) CPU 100Mhz / DDR 200Mhz.... and you are good to go. PC2100 RAM
is actually tested to operate at the 133Mhz setting and is backward compatable
to function fine at a setting of 100Mhz.
No other settings will be necessary to maximize any Bus Speeds. As these
settings are doubled by the Bus system itself. IE: 100Mhz becomes 200Mhz
and 133Mhz becomes 266Mhz.
Vcore default (Default is +0V) is the correct setting. Adding Core Voltage is used for overclocking purposes.
Luck.
