Hi

I have a computer that is about 5 years old. The CD-ROM drive when clicked on in any application says "E:/ (cd drive) is not accessable" RETRY CANCEL. It knows that there is a drive there because the 'E:' ICON has the CD picture on it nd when you right click it and then click 'Eject' the cd ejects. But you cannot run any cds. Why is this? And does anyone have a solution to this problem of mine?

Thanx

The drive could be bad, or could be dirty.

Check This Post (http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/000116.html) for cleaning instructions.

If cleaning doesn't do it, remove the drive from Device Manager and reboot, let windows find it again. If you still have no CD ROM, it's most likely bad.
