boot to a floppy, and use the command "format c:", if you want to you can repartition it using fdisk, deleting the existing partition(s) and creating a primary dos partition.

If you were using a FAT32 partition this will work; however if you had XP in an NTFS partition then you'll need a third party program to wipe the drive as 98's FAT file system will not recognize nor remove an existing NTFS structure.

Either way i recommend you get Ranish partition manager (http://www.ranish.com/part), it's a Free partitioning & formatting tool that will allow you to remove any file system, including NTFS & linux.

for win2k/XP on NTFS, delete the partition using the win2k or xp cd, let it load, then when you find where you can Format and Delete partiton just delete partition . then boot up with a win98 boot/start disk and use Fdisk to repartition inFAT32 then Format. hope it helps.

forgive me, im young. Jiggy

OK Gang,
This is a double post and right now they are side by side in the forum listings. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

makaveli1604, I will give respect to your inexperience and tell you politely to not double post. This makes things more difficult and confusing. It does not speed up or set higher priority to your problem.

To those who answered, please use this one as it is the most responded to so far.

makaveli1604, you will need to use an NT boot disk or CD to remove the NTFS partitions. You can also use a third party partitoning program.
This has been suggested to you and you need to listen. Otherwise we are talking in circles http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
You can also Copy&Paste the URL from here into your address bar if the link does not work.

Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

OK,
You can go to www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com) and D/L an NTFS bootdisk or as suggested by iisbob, www.ranish.com/part (http://www.ranish.com/part) .
I have not made these links because you said that links are not working. Try to Copy&Paste into your address bar and see if it works.

{Edit} Wow, I see that you don't even need UBB code to do a link any more. It did it automaticly http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
