ok ok. this is my first time doing something like this. im looking for 1)advice; 2)any helpful website with advice or 3) a swift kick in the crotch for even attempting this.
i have an old (and i mean old -- 166 mhz!) comp that my fiance's aunt wanted to throw away. its custom build and has been upgraded a few times. well, it wasnt working and i had to reformatt the hard-drive and i installed Windows 98. everything works fine (cd-drive, vid card, sound card, floppy, etc) i have a decent comp that i do my homework and stuff on and i'm thinking to myself "hey, lets look up prices for motherboards and processors". well, the prices on that equiptment is fair and i would like to try it, but the only problem is that i never replaced a motherboard or processor. should i try it? this old comp looks like it would work, there's tons of working room inside (unlike a HP or compaq) and i think i could make a really nice comp. i also want to replace the hard-drive (this old thing only has 3 gigs) I have put in ram, a new cd-rw drive, floppy, vid card, sound card, and ethernet card before so could putting in a motherboard/processor that much harder? or should i close my eyes cause you're gonna deliver my swift kick in the crotch now? thank you for your reply.
