How many times do you press to reboot? does the first time do nothing and then it reboots when you try again, or does the first time cause a reboot?

Percussive maintenance, it may not work but it sure feels good...

A bit of clarification on Jon's post. The info is correct, but a bit unclear. What he's saying is:
If you press [Ctrl] [Alt] [Del] once, it should bring up the Task Manager. Twice will reboot the machine.
Sometimes it takes time for Task Manager to open, and in some instances it won't open at all. Wait a bit after doing the ol' three finger salute once, and see if Task Manager opens.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?

Whoops, thanks for clearing that up, chief. I'm a little new to this, and that was confusing.
When you use ctrl alt del does the computer show a blue or black screen after the first time, or does it continue to show the desktop?

I only hit it once the task manager does not come up and the system reboots so if something freezes up I have no way getting out of the problem the system just reboots

If you're running win 98 go to Start\Run and type msconfig, click ok. Click the Start Up tab and see if Task Monitor is unchecked, if so put a check in the box to the left, that might do it. Can't think of anything else...

See my answer under your duplicate post in the Operating System Troubleshooting and let us know if that worked.

I closed the other topic, but left it instead of deleting so the info would still be there. Didn't realize it was a duplicate yesterday...
