Here’s my dilemma. I have my Mom’s hard drive on life support, so-to-speak. I have it attached to my PC as secondary master so I can back her files. The drive is in serious need of reformatting. But first I want to back all her saved emails (Outlook Express). Files I have no problem with but I don't know how to make sure that I have her saved emails safely backed up. On Win98 i believe they are in Windows / Application Data / Microsoft / Outlook Express?

If I back her entire OE folder from that path and replace the one created after the reinstall of Windows, will this return all of her saved emails?

Hope you can help and Thanks!

If you can open OE (but probably not with your current setup) you can find the path (for each OE identity) from Options<>Maintenance<>StoreFolder and even move it elsewhere by clicking change, etc.

You can copy the folder to the other drive; but rather than paste it back, when OE is setup again, you can use the import function to retrieve them into OE or even point the new store folder to where the old one is.

Make sure you copy and paste all the OutlookExpress folders for each identity if there is more than one of them. And don't forget the Address Book, the .wab file in the AddressBook folder of Microsoft, in the Application Data Folder.
