What is the wire configuration when adding a burner to your PC

Depends on yor current configuration; and if you have the proper Ultra ATA chipset drivers loaded.
if you have only 1 hard drive and wish to have only one CD device, then primary master ide=hard drive secondary ide master =cd drive
or you could have- primary master ide=hard drive secondary ide master =cd drive, secondary slave ide=CDRW
or
primary master ide=hard drive secondary ide master =CDRW, secondary slave ide=CDROM
or primary master ide=hard drive primary slave ide=CDRW secondary ide master =cd drive
or primary master ide=hard drive primary slave ide=CDROM secondary ide master =CDRW
or,etc...
You can see there are many permutations, just depends on your choice. My recommendation ( this assumes you have 1 HD /1 CDROM already ):
primary master ide=hard drive secondary ide master=CDRW, secondary slave ide=CDROM
