Multi-region DVD

I have a HP pavilion notebook, which has a DVD player it has the usually that I have to set to a region, the thing is I'm in the UK, which is region 2 but I want to have the choose of playing either reigon 1 (us) or 2, but you only have 4 attempts to pick which one you want. Is there any software I can download to make it multi-region or am I going to have to pick which region I want. At the moment it's set to region 2 but I have just ordered a region 1 DVD, which I will test on the region it's set to at the moment.
