Thanks in advance for all of your inputs!!! Here is my problem! We have a win2k workgroup at our school and it's been working just fine with a hub, and some switches but when i replace the hub with the ibm 8275-113 switch, i got problems! with the ibm switch, i can't get each computer to see one another through the network browser, eventhough they all can ping each other and nbtstat works just fine when i try to look up the nbt table of a remote computer using ip address! when i try to browse using ip address directly (\\10.10.1.101) or the netbios name i get "remote procedure call fails". I don't know how to edit the lmhost file, so perhaps that may help too, but i thought that broadcast nodes should be able to resolve the names and ip addresses without lmhost file! The settings of our network look like this >> all static ip's, tcp/ip exclusively, they are all broadcast nodes (btw, how do you change from broadcast node to hybrid node, this may solve the problem)! another weird thing is that when i turn on the RPC locator service on one machine and connect this machine to the uplink port on the switch, it works with folder browsing but not the printer, i can't find the freaking printer! i think it's the problem with naming resolution and broadcast packets, it seems to me that the stupid switch doesn't handle broadcast packets or passes all broadcast packets to the uplink port! so how do i solve this problem! ibm didn't return my emails, so you guys are my last resort. thanks again, in advance!!!!!!
Help me!

Check here for node type registry change:
REG. entries for NETBT (http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/techresources/commnet/WINS/WINSwp98/WINS11-12.asp)

The LMhost file should have a sample fo how it's edited. If not go here:
LMhost (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/tcpip/part4/tcpapph.asp)

"remote procedure call fails just means that a browse list or that a named pipe connection couldn't be downloaded/initiated to a browse master or the "named" computer.

You might want to check that you haven't confirgured any VLANS on your switch.

Good Luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
