Ok, I was wondering about IRQ's.
I have loads of PCI cards that I want to fit to my PC but I am worried about IRQ conflicts. How can I tell which devices are happy to share IRQ's and which wont?
Im fairly positive that sound cards and video cards NEED their own IRQ's but I have no idea about the rest.
Can anyone help me out by explaining how they work.
Thanks.

Alot is rather dependant upon what operating system you are running...DOS needs to have things assigned manually and everything on its own, while XP is rather good at PnP...16 "real" IRQs and 8 "virtual" ones, it tends to assign everything to just a few and then assign "virtual IRQs" as needed, doing so better than previous versions of Windows.
So it is hard to say what exactly needs to be done...PnP is improving but it isn't quite a cure-all yet.....more details about what you've got and what you are trying to set up would help.
