Do I have to make a certain pc a server to get two pc's on-line simultaneosly on one phone line? Is it possible at all? And can they browse independently?

Thanks all.

This space for George Carlin quotes:

You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive.

(He should broaden that to pc's.)

Internet Connection Sharing has been part of Windows since W98SE.

HERE'S (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/ics) a link that explains it pretty well. Once you have it set up, you can browse independently but remember the bandwidth stays the same. Things slow down if both machines are really active. Trying to download to both machines at the same time can get REAL slow. It all depends on your connection.

I have it set up for now. One of my computers is connected to the internet (via dialup) and is connected to the other computer by a category 5 cable. There is a proxy server on the computer connected to the Internet (P1) that allows this computer (C1) to use the Internet. Slick. If you only have two computers, they can just be connected with a cat. 5, if you have more then you need a hub, think the max is 32.
