Hi Everyone;

I want to thank everyone for the comebacks on my previous questions. I'm still trying a few things to make them work will get back to the forum on the results. In the meantime I have yet another problem. When I play just an music CD on the computer it's OK. But if I try to leave the music CD playing and go to play some games with animation and/or sound I REALLY get some wierd noises on the speakers. The sound Card uses ALS4000 program. Is there anyway I can do both at the sametime? Thanks for all your great advice. Have an AOK day.

Not sure if there is a way or not. I have never been successful at it, but then, I don't play many games. I listen to mp3s most of the time that have been burned to the harddrive.

Anyway, seems to me that you are asking the soundcard to accept directions from two different software programs. I will be interested to read any further opinions to see if it can be done.

I'm not sure if that would work or not...I've used an ALS 120 but can't remember how it acted under those circumstances. The ancient SB16 in this machine handles it (yeah it's really old...1995...but it works perfect). Never used the ALS 4000.

If I forget and leave a music CD in and try a game, usually it will work, the CD will play instaed of the music track to the game, which I always turn off. Never heard any weird noises, usually it sounds normal but in the background. This has been the case with Quake, Monster Truck Madness and Doom. Not sure about Quake II or Unreal, still haven't left a CD in...

Same as Pete I have never had problems whilst listening to music and playing games, HL, Q3 and Need for Speed 4 to name a few.

Maybe it would be worth downloading the most recent drivers if u havent already.

Hi Again!

Thanks for the comebacks. I was just wondering as I read your reply(s) IF I could hook up a set of speakers to the modem card & run the games sounds off that and keep the CD music on the regular sound card? Is this maybe possible? Thanks.

Hi Again!

I've taken Pete's solution and will replace my sound card with the SB16 and see if that does the trick. Will advise. Thanks for the comebacks you are all great! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Im not sure if there are any specific ways to do it, but i have a pretty new compaq with integrated audio and I play some pretty intense games while listening to MP3s and sometimes CDs and it workc fine just lags when it changes songs but thats normal, try getting updated drivers and maybe your soundcard is just too old I play QIII, Cstrike, Motorcross Madness 2, UT, Cstrike, and 4x4 Evolution all with NO problems at all even with my $hitty integrated
