I played a game called Red Baron II for about a year using dial up. Since I have swithced to dsl I get an error message saying: UDP messaging error. You cannot play with your current connection. You may be behind a firewall. This is a very old game but I know that their are some who use a dsl connection to play, but I can't ever seem to catch them online. I think that it may have something to do with the ports on my router but I am puter stupid. Can anyone help me please? Need to fly with my friends!!!

UDP is used by the gane to host internet games. To find out what UDP port it's trying to use Type "netstat -a " at a command prompt after you start your gaming session. ( hit "ALT-TAB" to get back to the Windows desktop if needed)
With that information in hand, you might then find this site helpful.

Thank you for the information. This is what I received when I ran netstat -a at a command prompt:
UDP ATT: nbname *:*
UDP ATT: nbdatagram *:*
UDP ATT: 1028 *:*
UDP ATT: 1261 *:*
I also got alot of TCP but these were the only UDP's I tried to open ports 1028 and 1261 on the router but not sure what to do with the other two?

The other 2 shouldn't matter, their Windows ports 137 and 138 UDP. (I would not open these ports on your router unless you really have to ) Your game may use them, but I would think it's just opening UDP ports 1261 or 1028. Netstat should also tell you if it's connecting to another computer by displaying either it's ip address or it's name in the "foreign address" colume.
That link I posted explains how to change the UDP settings if you wish.
