View Full Version : printer problems
My printer was leaving red smudges on papers (after a thourough cleaning). After some playing around with it, I found that the problem was the color cartrige. It is leaking, kinda. The red ink is gathering at the bottom. Simple, I thought. Pull out the color one. I only use black anyway, but my printer just doesn't want to work without the color one in. I am in quite a dilema here. Is there a way to patch up the color one or do I have to buy a new one? I can't even isolate where the leak is.

Hi Jes,
IMHO...just by a new cartridge. Using a leaky cartridge is already causing problems. They're not all that expensive. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Yeah, you're right. I just hate spending $50 for a cartridge that I won't even use. I wish there were a way to disable the color and just use the black one. I talked to Future Shop (where i got it) and they told me that it needs the two in it.

Your leaky cartridge might be caused from over heating. With some ink jet printers, the print head gets hot from printing something like a picture on photo quality glossy paper. A lot of ink gets laid down on a high quality picture and the longer the printer is working without a break, the hotter the print head gets. It will then leak a little on the next print if you don't give it a 10 minute break.

I only ever print one (maybe two) pages at a time, so it doesn't heat up.
I have bought new cartridges anyway.
