OFF-LINE viewing. Yet again nothing in the help file about this except how to view list of pages visited. How do I view my history and history pages in Opera? I did find all the pages I had visited but could not view OFF-LINE.

Saving Web pages to desktop? When I save a web page to my desktop (which I do regularly with IE) for easy reading and quick finding offline, I end up with message "Server could not be found" (Even after clicking "WORK OFFLINE - in the file dropdown list) How do I save to desk top and then view at leasure?

Solved the viewing of off-line content in history. wnet to download the lates updte (6.03) for Opera and found a plugin for viewing history (at least I hope it is. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif So this just leaves the second part of my original question.

Hey ErnieK,

I'm not sure that Opera can do what you want it to do. Here is the problem:

In IE, when you save a page you get an option to save everything on the page (I forget the wording but it's something like 'save complete'), and then IE saves the page and all the content on it (including linked graphics, etc.).

OTOH, when you tell Opera to save a page, it only saves the HTML document (so no pictures, etc.). If you quit your browser and later try to reload the page in offline mode, then Opera will try to refresh all of the graphics /ads/etc. from the server.

One possible work around would be to view your desktop pages in text only mode (this seems burdensome and I'm not 100% sure it will work). Others may have better solutions, though.

John

Edit: Or, of course, you could try clicking the File -> Save With Images As button instead of File -> Save. Guess enough people complained about this so that they actually fixed it. Sorry 'bout that, I should look more carefully before I post

Thanks John
I will try your suggestion and let you know if it works.

The file (plugin mfor viewing History) I spoke about just prior to your post is time limited and expires in 30 days. So unless I want to pay for it...
Shame it looked a really useful program.

John I tried your suggestion and all I eneded up with was numerous small files none of which was the page. BUT! Some one told me to go to the cache and then hike it up. Default is set at 2000 so reset it to 5000 or above. BINGO! I can now view some pages of line in the history link. (Tool Bar/Window/Special/History) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
