If you guys used KaZaa or AudioGalaxy, I'm sure you will be familiar with the spyware(correct me if I'm wrong, I heard from CNET) being installed, GMT and CMEsys. I realized that these are really memory intensive and redundant. What I normally do is to end those 2 tasks, before I do my stuff. Btw, they resides in the Common Files dir.

Is there a safe way to remove them, but still able to use KaZaa and AG? I'm using Win2K Pro.

Thx for reading.

Hi Tinydot -
Personally, I wouldnt use either program. They're loaded with what I consider "Bad stuff". If you want to read aboutAd-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/) , and run it- You'll see what I mean. Kazaa even puts a program on your computer that, (Word has it), will allow them to use your "Spare CPU Cycles" for some "Master Plan". http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif .
If you did use Ad-Aware to remove the crap that Kazaa istalls on your computer, no, it will no longer work. There are some "Spyware free" file sharing programs-WINMX (http://www.winmx.com/) is one. Other than that, maybe some of the other guys (and gals) can enlighten you some more on this subject.
Happy days

One more thing tinydot- http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Forgive me if you already know this, but file sharing in general can be risky business.
I have known some that allowed people to have access to a lot more of their files than just mp3's. They weren't aware that their entire hard drive was checked to be shared with other users in their options setup!
So, just be careful! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif
