Install ISA modem

Hi guys,

For reasons I won't go into here, I'm trying to install a USR Sportster modem into an ISA slot of my computer. I have never installed a card, so I'm not sure what I'm doing. I cannot get the card to slide into the slot. It slides in a bit then seems to meet some resistance. I've applied quite a bit of pressure, but shouldn't the thing slide in relatively easily. There's only one ISA slot on the mobo, so I can't try another.

Any advice appreciated.

Are you sure it's an ISA modem?

There are older 8 bit ISA cards that will not fit into the later 16 bit slots; also there were MCA cards made about the same time. If you could post a pic of the card someone here may be able to give you some better help. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
