Calling all computer gurus!

I recently bought a Microstar motherboard and AMD Athlon 800 combo and installed it with a 300 watt power supply and 128 mb ram. I install windows and i get to the point where it says " Getting ready to load windows for the first time" it goes back to DOS and displays " Windows protection error. You must restart your computer now." I've read all the windows protection error FAQs that Paleo Pete gave me, but the solutions do not work or do not apply to my situation. I have tried my different parts to see which one is causing the problem but it isnt any of them. I get caught in a reboot loop. I need help on what to do... is there no hope for this? It seems everyone I consulted doesn't know what i am talking about. I am trying to get windows 98 to run smoothly but it doesnt...
ANy help is appreciated...

I wouldn't call myself a Guru, but check out MB article Q186844,Q187212 and Q188867 if you haven't already. It contains information on that and other startup errors.
