http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif my pc reboots often!! especially when i try to use the cdrom drive (d http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gifor the creative burner, when i try to copy cd's (both cds' in the drives, or when the pc boots up with a cd in either drive. the pc reboots when my air conditioner or heat (both central) and they are on different circuits.I purchased an isystem... added a creative cd-rom burner, and a voodoo 5 video card, the computer reboots when a disk is in either the main cdrom drive, or when a disk is in both drives ( to copy a disk) i would like some help on how to keep this from happening further... i have microsoft windows 98...i don't think reinstalling it will solve this problem... (rebooting)... there is no problem until i try to use the cdrom drives, or if there is a cd in either drive, it will go through the bios, all the way to login to windows, then reboot...please help or direct me to help... not microsoft or the cdrom burner vender or voodoo vender... it's the computer. Thank you for your time

upon reading further into this message board system, i did not state what the computer specs were... that's because im really not sure... i can say though from reading out of my isystem's manual, the system features, which might be a little overkill but hey, i need all the help i can get:

Micro Atx form factor mainboard

Ziff socket 7 support AMD K6-2/K-III up to 500MHz, Cryix up to MIII-500

Three DIMM sockets, expandable up to 768mb using Intel PC100 compliant SDRAM or EDO DRAM modules

512KB L2 cache SRAM and support for 100MHz Front Side Bus

two built in PCI bus mastering Enhanced IDE hard disk drive connectors tat support Ultra DMA/66 hard disk drives or CD-ROM drives, Xstore Pro IDE Bus Master Software Driver

Built in AGP 3D graphics controller with DVD hard ware acceleration, share memory arechitecture

Built-in AC97 Audio Controller

one AMR slot, Three 32-bit PCI bus slots and one 16-bit ISA slot(One PCI connector and one ISA connectior share a single expansion slot)

Soft off feature that allows the operating system to power off the system

Wake on LAN connector that supports Wake on LAN activity with network cards, and Wake on Ring connector that allows the system to be turned on remotely through the modem

ITU 56K V.90 Standard, AC'97 2.1 Compliant AMR soft modem

built-in two USB prots, one serial port and one parallel port

built-in PS/2 compatable keyboard and mouse ports

Built-in five audio jacks and MIDI/game port connector

Built-in video connector

now having said that, it might seem an overkill but i also added a voodoo 5 PCI graphics card that occupies one of the PCI slots and a Creative CDRW burner that is connected to the top CD-ROM that came with the computer, i am also on Central Fl. Road Runner. i never had a problem with my computer rebooting until i installed the voodoo3, then upgraded to a voodoo5.i have had the computer for almost a year and i upgraded the graphics card only a few months ago. upon installing the card, i contacted some tech support from voodoo and he heard my computer do 3 beeps and said it was a hardware problem, i looked at system info under start, and there seems to be no conflicts or any problems but the computer still reboots. I contacted someone at isystem tech support and they said:Hello,

A première vue, le problème proviendrait soit de la mémoire, ou en dernier lieu à la carte mère.
Je n'ai malheureusement jamais eu ce problème précis.

A.Mannaerts Service technique

which means in english-
Hello,

At first sight, the problem would originate be memory, or finally to the mother card. I unfortunately never did not have this precise problem.

A.Mannaerts technical Service

So, without wasting anymore space and time, i will try to add two more IBM 128MB PC100 SDRAM Memory RAM short of throwing the machine off my roof onto my concrete driveway.

Take a look at Microsoft KB article Q189526, and Q190303.

Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
