Hi All,
I am so pleased with myself, and so tickled, that I thought I would share my news.
I just recently, (last week), at last, finished my four-year degree. It's been a long road. With this major milestone under my belt, I can move forward to bigger and hopefully, much more rewarding things.
In January, I start the Becker Conviser CPA exam review course. I will be done with that just in time to sit for the "big quiz" next May. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks Pete. I was beginning to think that I had offended everybody. It was not my intention to come off as bragging or tooting my own horn. I have never once thought I was better than anyone else.
Just wanted to share a happy time in my life with my friends.
Cheers,

Yes indeed, congratulations are due, BigBlue66! (I didn't see your post until just now.)
Perhaps you could answer a question for me that I haven't gotten around to researching yet: I'm interested in database management. I looked into an online (200 series) "Introduction to Accounting" class offered by a local community college. It was more concerned with high-level, conceptual aspects of making business decisions than with "keeping the books".
My question: What is a good method of learning the nut-and-bolts of business accounting, so I at least know the buzz words?

Hi Kenja,
Take a bookkeeping course or a lower level accounting course. Sometimes the low level accounting course is referred to as the Principles of Accounting.
What you referred to is known as managerial accounting. This course assumes that you already know how to do the grunt work. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks, BigBlue66. I've been meaning to make it over to a college bookstore for a while now. Used, superceded textbooks are such a bargain.

Hi Kenja,
That would be an excellent place to start. Bookkeeping and basic accounting rules, concepts, etc. never change. It's only when you get into the upper level transactions, that you need to worry about GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Those change and so do tax laws.
Feel free to email me if you have questions. I would be happy to help, because as you have probably heard, the best way to retain knowledge is to give it away. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Thanks for the pat, and have a great New Years.
Cheers,
