comp wont start

My computer is homebuilt(Pentium III 600). I had put Windows in safe mode and then shut it down from windows, Now the conputer wont start. The light on the motherboard comes on, but nothing else works. It's silent. I'm a college student and i REALLY need my computer. Please help me.

Check to see if all your cards are securely connected and then try booting with floppy disk
