I LOVE IT..........GOTTA HAVE IT NOW....I mean ME's gotta have it now...I mean N T ME needs it.......whew..(semi-seriously)If the next home user offering is based on the NT kernal, I wonder how they are gonna figger out how to get devices to work in it.?? I would LOVE the multitasking/multithreading capabilities of NT in a usable PC desktop setup.

If you read the "fine print" on the bottom of the page it seems like he wouldn't mind if you printed it but I'd check first.

ME.... I think I'm under the control of an experimental Microsoft mind control product, which prevents me from uninstalling it.

Does anyone have some Aluminum foil I can borrow?

98 unfortunately non SE...DOS 6.22/win3.11 on the Packard Bell P-60, DOS 6.22 so far on the Cyrix 6x86 P-133 (85MB hard drive, can't fit much more), DOS 3.3 and 6.22 on the 386's, win3.11 on one, DOS 5.0 and 6.22 on the XT's.

And yes, I could print it, there is a notice on the page that says it's available for use, but I want a 24x30 or so glossy POSTER...I should have gotten that plotter I passed up in San Antonio...FREE!! Oh, and I don't have a color cartridge for the HP Desk Jet right now...

Hey Pete.......if you have gotten the Service Pak 1 and subsequent updates, you basically have SE - minus modem sharing and one or two things I cant even remember.

98se times 3 on the Pentium's and DOS 6.22 /Linux on the old P.233

Don't laugh to loud But I also still use Autocad 10c on one of the P3 systems.
If you think it was good on a 486 at 33mhz you should see it on a 733 http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey Pete TOO bad you live so far away from me.
Last time I cleaned out the Extra hardware stuff from the shelves in the basement .
I gave away a compaq P166(4712) and 2 clones p200 and p233 all complete running systems.

Also WHY did you pass on the plotter?
I'd have swapped you something for it at the very least.
Hey how about a Deskjet 1200C with all 4 ink cartridges.
Or maybe a Summasketch III tablet. ( I still have 2 )

Rick:
1. Didn't really need it.
2. Didn't have room to store it until I could do something with it.
3. Mental pause.

Wish I could have gotten my hands on some of that stuff, can't find much around here, especially small hard drives, I wouldn't be too interested in complete proprietary systems, but components always come in handy...video cards, memory, floppies, CD ROM's etc.

Randy: I have installed SP1, and knew that, about the only thing I miss is ICS, which I would really like to have, we plan to try and set it up here in the future.

Pete are you looking for some small Hard drives? I think I still have 1 or 2 that are under a GIG around here somewhere.

Pete

I know what mean about the proprietary systems not being of much use.
I'm getting yet another from a friend (IBM E5?) 300mhz P2 http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
As soon as I finish building his new 1000 for him.

If nothing else it will make a good Linux box http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
The old 540 meg's are being used as paper weights.
But I'll keep you in mind when I redo the nephews system. ( 2-540's and a 1.8)

In the mean time.
Does any one have a use for a 16 meg stick for one of the following printers?
HP LaserJet 5P, 6P, 6Pxi, 6Pse
HP LaserJet 4MV
HP DesignJet 330,350C

It's A"KTH4+ /16"

Which Windows? For a non-gaming, work environment NT4 is the way to fly. I have two -- very different -- NT4 workstations, one Celeron-based, the other a Duron. Both are rock-solid, nothing crashes, uptime is determined by the power company. At work (where the Celeron machine is) I'm surrounded by Win9x machines that are frequently buggered up one way or another. When it matures some more -- and when I need it -- I'll move to Win2000.
