I learnt some basic C programming in school, but I want to learn a new language.
Should it be Visual Basic or Visual C++ ?
Please advise.
Thanks

I just saw your post and had some thoughts...
If you have taken some basic C in school (don't know when that was) and are looking to learn a different language - try visual basic. I am taking a course in C/C++ right now and have discovered that C and C++ are one in the same. In fact the compiler I loaded for the course is a C complier and the book is C++; which seems to just be a bit fancier than C - more GUI frills. But the main point is that you can perform all teh same functions on the C complier that the C++ course requires.
The course I have is basically a book, software and resource libary that I picked up at my local CompUSA pretty cheap and I am teaching myself in my spare time. It's actually a good course that is easy to follow - but the best part was the full compiler that came with it.
I have also picked up some HTML, Visual Basic, and XTL books pretty cheap in a few bookstores. Since I live in San Francisco there are plenty of bookstores that will mark books 1/2 off (or more) almost a month after the were put on the shelves.

Why?
Sheer joy of knowledge? Try something archane like Fortran or Assembly Language or APL
Windoz applications? MS VC++ is best route to the API
Distributed (web based) applications? ASP+(VBScript or Java Script), PHP, perl, Java, Cold Fusion
Career building? MS VC++, Java
How much money do you have to spend on development tools?
Do you want to consider other areas? Multimedia, Network Admin?
