View Full Version : A Toast to Randy, the Texas Dude.

Hey Everybody,

I was thinking that we should all give Randy_tx a virtual salute. I propose a toast to a guy who has helped countless folks on this here forum.

In just two short months, Randy has posted way over 600 times. He personifies what this forum is about, helping people with a friendly and willing attitude. Oh yeah, and his advice is always as correct as it can be, considering the sometimes limited background that a poster will give.

Just want to say thanks, Randy, for stepping in and helping out. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I salute you.

Cheers,

Big Blue 66

I'm coat-tailing those remarks BB! I want shout out to all and don't forget Reid who is always on the most difficult probs with dead-on accuracy http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I think we could minimize some posts if folks would remember to post as much info as possible the first time...I know that it is not always at the top of the list for the "postee" as the problem has already frustrated them enough to find this forum.

Hey All,

Thanks, Bassvax, for pointing out what could possibly be seen as discrimination in my topic. It certainly was not my intention to 'forget' anybody. I don't like to mention names in a general post like that, 'cause I am afraid my old noggin will fergit somebody. By all means, the regulars on here all deserve a big thumbs up!

I just mentioned Randy 'cause he has posted soooo many times in the short time he has been a member. I can almost guarantee myself, that with any new post I see and start to read, I will find a post from Randy_tx. He's right there with a willingness to help if he can.

Guess I will have to post a new topic to salute each and every one of you good folks. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif But for right now, IMHO, Randy should have his fifteen minutes. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Goodnight JohnBoy.

P.S. Oh, and I am certainly not dissing any of the new posters that come here with problems. As Bassvax pointed out, by the time you get here, you have very little hair left, (Sorry Pete), and you just want an answer quick. Fair enough. Just post what you know about the problem and any background information that you think might relate to the problem. (This is meant for those of you who are just now perusing our forum, without actually posting yet. So come on, let us have it. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

Thanks for initiating the toast, Big Blue. I too had noticed that Randy was really jumping in there and helping out. He arrived at a time when questions were coming in fast and furious. I check the site more than I want to admit and was pleasantly surprised how well he kept up the pace. It helped me get away from the computer and work on my "fleet" of old Ford products http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I didn't feel slighted, nor do I think anyone should be. The recognition is well deserved.

p.s.

Thanks for the acknowlegement, Jerry.

Saaaaalute!
As for the posting all you can in the first post, I'm bad at that. I try to give an answer I know, then I always seem to find something to add after I look it up. My bad.

I'd take my hat off, but the glare might be too much http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ...but I will join in and say thanks to Randy, for lots of much appreciated assistance.

Others?

OK, there's Reid, of course, always there with excellent info; mjc who has saved the day quite often; Ghost_Hacker who I think is scada in disguise; sleddogg who definitely shouldn't be left out; Redd Dogg who still lurks around here from time to time; sea69 who was a bit green at first and has improved greatly; BB66..OK I will take my hat off http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif ; bassvax who certainly is no slouch either; and of course, we can't forget our fearless leader, ixl...

All those and others certainly deserve kudos for their continuing assistance and collective store of knowledge. Singly, all do well, but these forums have become what they are only by all of them putting their heads together and doing a great job, as well as getting along very well in the process.

I've said it before, and I'm sure this won't be the last time, this is becoming one of the best places on the net for computer help, and that couldn't happen without all of you doing a great job...

Well said Pete, as usual. I would post a salute to you as well, but hey, we all know who the greatest moderator is. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Cheers,

I stand proud with hand on heart and glass raised high. Since I found this goldmine of knowledge, friendly people, and good times, it makes me happy to know that there are people out there that are willing to help others in need.

In one year, I have gone from turning on a computer for the first time to doing a lot of the basics that even some computer 'experts' don't know. I have gained knowledge from hands-on experience but I thank all of you here at the PC Guide for a large chunk of what I have learned so far.

My only hope is this forum never gives up, doesn't turn cynical, and continues to help every computer user from beginner to expert from around the world. I also hope that I can use what I have learned to help others here and around my own circle of friends and relatives.

I could sit here and go through the hundreds of posts that have helped me and others and personally give thanks to the most helpful persons, but that wouldn't be fair to anyone that has offered help. I think we all deserve a pat on the back for a job well done.

So cheers to one and all at the PC Guide!
