that my current main pc. Compaq 7AP140,(athlon tbird 800mhz) - is going for the same amount of money now used as I paid for it brand new almost a year ago, and it has been running 24/7 since the day I plugged it in. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

see this (http://www.mysimon.com/isrch/index.jhtml?c=reviseddesktoppc&pgid=shop&InputKeyword=compaq++presario7AP140&key=UC_20010501_212813_0453895758)

I mean prices of machines usually go down.. dramatically don't they ??

trivia

edit: and I just remembered, I also got my 19" monitor @ the same time too (which wasn't included) in the price. of the system in the link, but was included in my final price. (with 3 year warranty)

$1,200.00 (us)

I guess this is just your time to shine, Sean, what with the Dell deal and all. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif (He says with a straight face, refraining from making any well-deserved disparaging remarks about Compaq) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif But, seriously! 24/7 for a year is nothing to sneeze at. You've got the FireWire ports, too? Decent. Had they stopped putting part of the BIOS code on the HD in your rig? If so, I take back (most of) the remarks that I didn't make anyway. You'd think with all the hoopla about 1G+ Athlons and P4's, that the price would have dropped tho. Probably time for you to buy some lottery tickets, or call your broker. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

hehe .. I guess you're right tj, things have been going abnormally well for me this year. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

yes, ieee(1394)'s, in front and back, 2 usb's front and back..lalala... it does have a "System Save" drive "D" partition, so I suppose that's part of the BIOS. ( but that's ok too, cause the 1st week I got it, I had to find out how the thing 'system save' worked, and re-set my entire pc to new factory- condition) gotta play......

probably partly because it's so upgradable. Is said to be able to safely go to over 1Ghz.

the same chip as the 1ghz anyway.( I think)

lottery ?? hmmmmm I win everyday!!
(I don't play) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
