Its gonna be great. I love Tolkien. I can remember seeing all the cartoons when i was around 10 or 11. My friends have all jumped on the bandwagon, which is cool. I used to work at a movie theatre, and i'm real buddy-buddy with the head manager. This means that i get to go to a late night private screening of the film, on the night before its released! Horaay, it should be great, and the other films will be too.

Not really. I never read any of the books so I don't know much about it except for what friends have told me over the years. I painfully sat through some of the animated movie back in 1981 or whenever it was but I know not to judge the current offerings from that. I won't be seeing it but I hope those who go enjoy it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

two legs on three legs eating no legs, four legs gets some?

A box with no lid or key, inside a golden treasure for thee?

Its been a long time since I read them and I only really remember stuff from the Hobit.
Can't wait to go see it as my boys are to young to get into that type of reading.
Tried reading the "The Adventures of Tom Saywer and Huckleberry Fin" and my oldest looked at me like it was in French http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I can't wait! Bought tickets for me, my folks and my 11 year old daughter. Already read Hobbit & Trilogy aloud to my kid over span of many years at bedtime. Mom halfway through book 1, reread Hobbit first, daughter in process, I haven't gotten past description of hobbits in prologue. Been too damn consumed with xmas and cpu issues.
Cheers to all Tolkein fans! I've been waiting for a "live acted" version since my daughter was five and we (re)watched the animated versions... they suck.
I hope that Bombadil is in the live acted version.
Supposed to be 3hrs 10 min
woooo hoooo

Not sure about the movie yet (sometimes movies are a vast disappointment after reading the book), but promos for the movie have made me realize that it's been years since I read through the trilogy. Have it on the shelf and intend to read it again soon. Might ought to re-read Watership Down while revisiting old classics, eh?

i remember seeing the cartoon for WD as a kid. Fiver's hallucination of the hills being covered with blood made me cry. I don't remember much after that....
