I've bought one PS2 mouse for my old PC, but the Win98 says it does not detect the PS2 mouse upon the start up of the OS. To make thing worse, the keyboard is not functioning too!

I then pressed the reset button and reboot the PC for a few time, I've then found out that the keyboard will malfunction if the PS2 mouse is plugged into the PS2 port.

I've check the BIOS setup and it shows PS2 (mouse) enabled - "YES". What went wrong? Can I still use this PS2 mouse (I've JUST bought it) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

Can someone help and thanks!

Check Device Manager and see if you have a conflict somewhere. Sounds like PS/2 is trying to take the IRQ used by the keyboard. Also check what IRQ's are being used. Highlight Computer in Device Manager and click Properties, you'll see a list of IRQ's in use. PS/2 normally uses IRQ 12, if it's in use, it might be trying to use IRQ 1 instead, which is normally keyboard.
