Things have been quiet around here about the games which I found a bit odd so I figured I'd get the ball rolling or let it quietly fade into the sunset.

The games seem to be moving right along with a smattering of drama thrown in to keep everyone interested. The events I'm following are speed skating, curling and hockey (no surprise there I'm sure). Canada did ok in speed skating, doing alright in curling but our much celebrated hockey team took it on the chin from those pesky Swedes. No surprise there either. Sweden always shows up with a strong team. The American's look good as well.

I guess the spotlight is on Canada's figure skating tandom. That poor French judge, what a patsy she ended up being. That's too bad. Maybe some day the blatant corruption that runs through the entire Olympic process will be purged but the IOC don't seem to be in any hurry to correct things. All those great gifts, the money, the instant scholarships...why change the status quo? The fact there's now two gold medal winners (absolutely ridiculous) in the same event should indicate how inept the Olympic powers that be really are.

my opinion is that if the judge was corrupt= her vote shouldn't count and that the Canadians should be the soul owners of the Gold!

just my thoughts.

Or is it.... If you are not from the continent of America you cant win a gold??? Anyone who votes or gives a high score to another countries team must be on the take?? Dont take the wrong line and try to win in speed skating as you will loose even if you have won!!! Lets take the Olympics back to where it should be, non professional status. Wouldnt be much of a team from the US though!!! Then again if the whole thing is run by the TV networks why not just ban the country from having the games.. 0 - 2 USA vs The rest of the world!! The UK might win some medals then?? Maybe not!!

Time for another beer... Good old english beer....

Well the ladies from the UK won the gold in curling and hats off to them. Canada had the best women's curling team in the world and we all knew here (in canada) it was a no brainer for the gold but the Brit's reminded us what team work is all about.

Congrats

Just like bicycling you cann't cut someone off if there in the middle of a clear pass thems the rules.or Nascar if there in a pass usually on the inside you cann't ramum into a ditch thems the rules.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Passing must be done cleanly and without body contact. Passing is tricky, and skaters take advantage of key areas to pass. If the lead skater strays too far from the track markers, he or she can be passed on the inside by an alert competitor.

If the track is skated tightly by the pack, passing must then be done on the outside.

The rules on passing other skaters are strict. One infraction and a skater is out. The lead skater has the right of way and the passing skater must assume responsibility for avoiding body contact. The most frequent passing occurs when a skater passes on the inside near the first or second block of the corner.

Intentionally pushing, obstructing or colliding with another racer calls for the offender's disqualification and a chance for advancement to the next round by the victim of the offense. Improperly crossing the course ("cross-tracking") is also prohibited, as is kicking your skate across the finish line. A bell warns the skaters when they are one lap from the finish.
